Yarmouth, United Kingdom

£79,995

Barkas is an elegant, timeless and stylish Steel Hulled Kompier Kotter Ketch Motorsailer. She has everything you could possibly need for extended ocean cruising or a long stay onboard. The masts, provided for in the original build, were added by the current owner shortly after purchase. She is equipped with a 120hp Leyland Type 4 diesel engine. Barkas is extremely roomy and comfortable; the combination galley and dining area is particularly congenial. She has two 2 double berth cabins and one half cabin, with two heads, one equipped with a shower. She has a plenty of up to date electronic equipment. Surveys, including a new (April 2017) hull survey are available.

Sailing Performance

Barkas is a motor-sailer and will never be a racing yacht, the advantages of her sails are that it keeps her stable and she travels much more smoothly and reduces the fuel consumption dramatically.
Going from Grand Canary to St Lucia, some 2800 miles with twin headsails she averaged
just over 6 knots which took 19 days, only starting the engine to charge the batteries or if
the speed dropped below 4 knots, taking only 120 gallons to top the fuel tank back up to full capacity, which is 260 gallons.

Brokers Comments

I love this boat!  She is very well looked after, spacious and very comfortable. One might like to update the upholstery, but she has everything you could wish for cruising the world or living aboard and port hopping locally. The Dutch really know how to build a boat! She has recently had a hull survey, anti-fouled and anodes replaced.

Reasonable offers will be considered!
