West Cork, Ireland

1962 Laurent Giles Sloop

This beautiful Laurent Giles Sloop was built in Essex by Cardenell Bros out of Teak and Oak. She makes an excellent cruising boat and has previously been raced in Classic Regattas in the UK, Ireland and France.

She is one of the classic Jack Giles designs, originally a ketch, but now sporting a Sloop rigging configuration.

Over the years the boat has been refitted tastefully and modernsied to allow more comfort onboard and reliabilty with her Yanmar 35Hp inboard diesel engine and Webasto heating.

THE LAURENT GILES PHILOSOPHY

Laurent Giles described as part of his design philosophy that a yacht should have "the utmost docility and sureness of manoeuvring at sea, in good or bad weather" - his boats were designed to maintain a steady course with minimal action by the helmsman but respond instantly to the helm if the need arose.
