SARP YACHT – NB202 – DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The SARP XSR 85 #NB202 is a ground breaking project that is available for 2023 4th quarter delivery.

She features a fast displacement hull form with naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects out of Holland. Composite hull and carbon fiber superstructure and her hybrid systems gives her a top speed of 21 knots and a cruising range of 1,400nm at 12 knots. She also has the ability to cruise at a zero emissions mode or run the house on a silent battery mode great for the evenings when at anchor.

There are Four modes are provided as below;

Diesel Electric Mode

-          Electrical Motor is used for propulsion system. Electrical motor is worked by generator which is connected to electrical motor by hydrid module.

Electric Mode

-          Batteries are used for propulsion system at this mode

Silent Mode

-          While the boat is at anchor, batteries are used for hotel load.

Boost Mode

-          Both main engines and the electrical motors are used for propulsion system at the same time.

By utilizing a large amount of glass both in the hull & superstructure to merge the interior and exterior spaces into one the layout removes as many obstructions as possible creating an open floor plan. You can literally stand in the salon and have a line of sight from the bow to transom. There is an open galley to port that can also be enclosed depending on the level of service expected by the guests or owner/operator.

The aft deck is a wide open space that flows from the salon to the lounge area located directly outside. From there a full beam set of stairs leads down to the swim platform that has the hydraulic platform that doubles as a launch for a tender or jet ski.

Teak decks continue both on port & starboard where you find full walk-arounds leading to the bow where you have another sitting area and lounge space. I love how glass is embedded in the bulwarks to give you a line of sight to the water opening up the space to guests dont feel enclosed.

The upper sundeck has a large fixed hard top with glass skylight, sitting area and full bar & upper helm. A perfect location to enjoy the view and wind in your face when underway.

A central staircase leads down to 4 spacious cabins including a full beam master, but the fourth cabin located at the base of the stairs can be converted and opened up into a lower lounge area. This space can be utilized in a number ways and I feel is extremely practical as it allows one to configure the lower accommodations to fit a large range of guest parties.

Crew accommodations and engine room access is back aft with the engine room almost serving as a piece of art with its arrangement and level of quality.

The goal of the XSR 85 is to improve ones level of enjoyment on the water with her sexy, sporty lines and ability.

The transom setup is, in fact, exactly the same as Edge, with a large platform, serving as a Passarelle, a swim ladder and even a lift for the tender. Although a detachable davit is the recommended way to launch and retrieve the tender and other water sports equipment. To starboard, we have access to a small laundry room, and to port, a hatch for engine room access.

Moving forward to port, there will be a galley area, and to starboard there will be direct access to the helm station. Not only does the helm station look really quite impressive, but that three screen praxis navigation system is just one of the best. It gives very easy control of the entire vessel and all of its instruments. It's not a cheap system. Forward of the bridge and back to the open deck, that a jacuzzi tub will be. Again, an addition to Edge that opted for a sunbathing and seating area here. And to port is a hatch leading to a crew quarter for a crew of four. There are curved windows laminated and chemically treated in order to give the owner an unhindered panoramic view.

As you descend the stairs below deck, you're faced with a forward VIP stateroom. This is quite an unusual design since  two sofas will actually pivot and close to create a double bed. Moving aft, we have two single cabins, although I should mention that sarp have decided not to go with the circular bed that you can see in the layout, but rather a more traditional double stateroom layout. Not much traditional about the master stateroom aft. Windows have intentionally been positioned close to the waterline so that the owner and their guests can enjoy the best possible view either at anchor or even underway.

The flybridge, where there will be a helm station, a seating area for dining, a small bar, and this area reserved for solar panels. And the solar panels give a hint to the next big difference between this yacht and Edge, which had a standard propulsion system with engines to propel the yacht and generators to generate electricity for the yacht. This yacht is a little different because this yacht will have 2 x 800 HP man engines, 2x 70 kilowatt generators, but also 2 x 50 kilowatt electric motors and a battery bank. Now, the solar panels serve to charge the service batteries for the hotel load, whilst a hybrid battery bank is charged by a combination of the generators and electric motors powered by the engines. This allows the yacht to stay at anchor, using the batteries alone without having to burn fuel with the generators and underway, the generators can be used to power the propulsion and to charge the hybrid battery bank and the batteries for the hotel load. Or the engines can do the same, or both. The whole system is controlled by a fully automated power management system. This gives greater redundancy and flexibility to use the yacht. If you need the speed, you can run with the engines, the electric motors fed by the generators as a booster to get 21 and a half knots. If you need silence or are in a protected area, you can use the batteries, and in between you can use the solution that suits you. This gives a range of over 1400 nautical miles at ten knots.

The engine room will have that same Star Trek inspired styling to it like her sister ship Edge. There are soft patches in the aft deck so that these large panels that can easily be removed if you ever have to replace an engine.

The hull is composite using Corecell materials on the hull and the Airex panels on the bulkheads together with Epoxy resin. Carbon fiber in places for strength and for lightness used on the structural parts of the XSR 85 lines  and also  the entire superstructure is of carbon fiber with the hand rails. Humphrey interceptors have been fitted to the underside of the hull to improve the way that the yacht performs underway. Sarp yachts went the extra mile and fitted fixed tab in collaboration with the Dutch hull designer Van Oossanen years ago. If the sea trials resulted in less than perfect performance, then ballast in the form of lead weights would be added to the vessel to change the balance of weight. This tab will allow Sarp to get the same results after sea trials, simply by altering its position if necessary.

HULL DESIGN

Van Oossanen developed the patented 'Fast Displacement Hull Form' or FDHF. The development of this concept was triggered by the desire to develop a hull form that is efficient over the entire speed range and not only in a restricted speed interval around the maximum speed. Other benefits include significantly increased comfort on-board with better sea keeping and wave reduction. Particularly when compared to hard chine vessels, the FDHF showed improved sea keeping behaviour and maneouverability, as well as a reduced sensitivity to an increase in the weight of the vessel.

Low Emissions. The XSR Series offers you the most environmentally friendly way to spend time aboard your boat.

Comfort & Silence. The system will allow for more space in the accommodation areas than a yacht at the same length. Electric engines operate silently with no exhaust gas.

Cost Efficiency. You can make slow cruises by utilising electric propulsion with nearly zero cost! The maintenance period of electric engines is also longer than internal combustion engines.

Engine Power. We provide you a maximum acceleration value regarless of propulsion revolution or the yacht's speed; an efficient and powerful cruise with the highest maneouverability.

The sculptural staircase connects in one sweeping line all levels to a logical composition. Fluid lines scooping the daylight from the Sundeck into the heart of the ship.

Aft the lower deck is dedicated to the master cabin. All functional elements are arranged around a surprisingly fluid space. The absence of bulky furniture and space intruding TV screens allows the carefully chosen material structure to shine and define.
